Our Awards

Concateno TrichoTech have been fortunate to receive three awards in consecutive years from, The Wales Quality Centre Innovation Award 2009, The Queen's Award 2008 for Innovation and Enterprise and the Welsh Small Business Award organised by the Western Mail and  sponsored by Lloyds TSB.

Wales Innovation Award 2009

In early December, our laboratory was awarded the Wales Quality Center's Innovation Award 2009. The award ceremony took place Cardiff City Hall in December and was hosted by Lucy Owen from BBC Wales.

Innovation is vital in the scientific sector to ensure continuous development. Concateno TrichoTech continues to broaden the range of substances that can be detected in hair and developed the first internationally accredited test to detect the use of alcohol in hair.

Rachel Woods, General Manager of Concateno TrichoTech said:
“The TrichoTest® hair analysis plays an important role for our clients, supporting magistrates, legal professionals and social services in the difficult tasks and decisions they need to make on family and child protection.

“The Wales Quality Centre promotes quality and innovation – two values that we strive to maintain throughout our business, which makes us very proud and honored to be its award recipient. An achievement such as this is a reward for continued commitment and dedication of our team and it’s their hard work which has made this possible.”

Jenny Willott, Welsh Liberal Democrat MP for Cardiff Central, said:
“This is fantastic news. Concateno TrichoTech have an outstanding record of innovation and thoroughly deserve this award. In particular, their cutting-edge drug testing techniques have proved invaluable in tackling crime and helping to drive down drug addiction. This award helps to put Cardiff on the map as a centre of research and development and the beating heart of a growing Welsh high tech sector.”

Queen's Award

Her Majesty the Queen has conferred her Award in 2008 to TrichoTech (Concateno’s Cardiff laboratory which specialises in hair testing) in recognition of its outstanding achievements in the continuous innovation of detecting drugs in biological samples.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious awards for business performance.

"Every test we carry out has enormous significance for the donor, and I’m extremely proud of our team's dedication not only to broadening the scope of illicit drugs that we can detect, but also in ensuring the highest standards of analysis are met." commented General Manager, Rachel Woods.
