What Kind of Test Should I Use?
In the vast majority of family law and child protection cases with which we are involved, legal professionals and social workers require us to detect parental substance use in order to make informed child welfare decisions. Due to the importance of these tests to the families and children involved, a long term profile of drug and or alcohol use is often requested, which can be provided using a TrichoTest® hair analysis. Hair tests are often ordered by the courts as well as by solicitors, social workers and local authorities.
Where there is a requirement to detect parental alcohol use, we strongly recommend a combination of hair and blood tests to provide corroborative evidence in order to gain a more complete picture of alcohol use.
In some cases, there is no head hair available and in such circumstances we can test a body hair sample or offer continuous testing on samples which can provide a shorter window of detection, like urine or oral fluid for drugs, or test blood for alcohol.
