A TrichoTest® Hair Analysis for Drugs
Hair grows at an average rate of 1cm per month and every single hair follicle has its own blood supply. Once a drug is taken, it is absorbed into the blood stream and circulated around the body. As the hair grows, it takes drugs from the blood supply running through the hair follicle and incorporates them into the hair in small, but measurable amounts where the drugs can remain almost permanently.
Hair analysis provides a secure, retrospective window of detection and can detect as far back as the length of the hair sample allows. Therefore, if you’re looking to detect drugs that were taken a long time ago, samples can be taken and analysed months, or even years after the event, providing there is sufficient hair length. Our laboratory is UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 to detect over 50 drugs and metabolites in hair. Should I have a month-by-month or an overview analysis?
Using Hair Testing In Court
Hair testing has been used as evidence in court since the mid 1990s, and is now used by over 5,000 lawyers and social workers for child residence and custody cases. Our team of Reporting Scientists are experienced in defending hair testing in court and writing Expert Witness Reports for submission in court. See our court challenges and Expert Witness Reports pages for more information.
