Chain of Custody and Collection Network

Chain of Custody

Chain of Custody is integral if the test result will be required to be used as evidence . It allows the laboratory that test the sample to check if the sample is from the original donor and whether it has been tampered with during transit. Chain of Custody achieves this through a number of measures:

  • Barcodes that link the sample to the test paperwork
  • Declarations signed by the donor stating it is their sample
  • Tamper eveident seals on the sample bottles that can not be replaced once removed
  • Tamper evident bags that onced opened can not be resealed

When the sample arrives in the laboratory, the accessioning staff will record whether any of the seals were broken and check for the donor signature.

Collection Network

Responsiveness is one of our company values and is at the heart of our collections procedure. We have 150 collection officers in the UK and 500 worldwide, allowing us to collect a sample 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on a pre-planned or emergency basis.

For emergency call outs we aim to be with you within 2 hours, a target that we meet in over 98% of cases, with an average response time of less than 80 minutes.

The collection officer will be fully briefed on what is required by your organisation so you can be confident that testing will be carried out correctly.
