Training and Education

Concateno’s drug awareness courses provide an understanding and recognition of the indicators of drug and alcohol misuse, to help delegates confidently respond to the provisions of their company policy on drugs and alcohol.

They can be tailored towards all staff or for supervisors, managers, staff representatives and others who have a responsibility associated with their company's drug and alcohol policy. The courses cover the sensible consumption of alcohol, the side effects of medicines and the harmful effects of illegal drugs.

The courses can be presented by Concateno alone, or in conjunction with company personnel. We will work with the commissioning department to devise an appropriate content and structure that will support the development, implementation and maintenance of the company’s policy, including the introduction of drug and alcohol testing.

Workshops with the same objectives bring together people from different industries to find out more about drugs, alcohol and the workplace. The small informal groups provide a comfortable forum for discussion and a useful exchange of views, perspectives and good practices. The workshops are held at regular intervals throughout the year, and can be used as refresher courses.

Roadshow information sessions are designed to present information on drugs, alcohol, and testing, quickly and easily. The roadshows are supported by relevant supporting literature and may include.

• An outline of the effects of drugs and alcohol, with a focus on their impact on work performance.
• A look at the test procedures from the individual’s point of view, in particular to give an understanding of what the collection procedures will involve.

This Roadshow style works successfully in conjunction with other health and safety messages. We also run regular training courses for doctors who undertake the medical review of results.
