Hair FAEE & EtG Alcohol Testing
Concateno offers an ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEE) hair analysis as an aid in assessing chronic, excessive alcohol use. Both EtG and FAEE are metabolites of alcohol detected in hair after the breakdown of alcohol in the body.
Our test is conducted using a 3cm length of hair, representing approximately a 3 month time period. Combining both metabolites provides more information and helps eliminate false positives. Concateno's EtG and FAEE hair analysis is in line with the Society of Hair Testing (SOHT) consensus on testing for chronic excessive alcohol consumption. We also have an alcohol blood test available as well as alcohol breath testers.
Features
- Analysis of a 3cm length of hair (can be longer in some cases)
- Analysis in line with the SOHT consensus
- UKAS accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for EtG analysis
Benefits
- Long window of detection
- Tool for determining chronic excessive alcohol use
- Analysis for direct metabolites of alcohol
- Advice for best fit testing solutions
- Non-invasive sample type
- Legally defensible chain of custody
We do not recommend that the EtG and FAEE alcohol hair testing is used in isolation but in partnership with other tests such as blood tests or a clinical assessment. This is a test for chronic excessive alcohol use and is not appropriate for testing for abstinence, social drinking or binge drinking.
