DNA Testing

DNA testing is a well established scientific process, used to positively identify relationships between people. It is a useful test when trying to establish the true biological father of a child.

We have teamed up with a leading paternity testing service called Polygenyn to provide you with an accredited testing service for DNA. They facilitate the provision of testing that is accredited to the standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 meaning the tests are valid for admission in the UK courts.

DNA testing involves taking a sample from the inside of the cheek using a swab which is then analysed in the laboratory, however other sample types can also be used. Because of the importance these tests carry, each one is performed twice completely independently of each other. Due to the nature of the testing Polygenyn adhere to a strict confidentiality agreement and are signed up to the Data Protection Act.

Testing options

Relationship/sibling testing: In the case of relationship or paternity tests, a DNA test is due to the fact that a child inherits half of their genetic material from each parent. The test can determine a biological relationship between lost or adopted relations, as well as alleged siblings.

Ethnicity tests: DNA analysis can also be used to determine genetic origins. This can be particularly important for some adoption cases enabling the right adoptive parents to be identified for certain children.

Forensic DNA testing: DNA testing can be used in criminal investigations, a method which is recognised by the UK courts. The laboratory is accredited to ISO 17025:2005, meaning the tests are valid for admission in the UK courts.
